Privacy at RiftWire
This notice describes RiftWire’s public-launch behaviour. The Sprite Tracker works without an account, and RiftWire does not use advertising.
Sprite Tracker storage
When you use the Sprite Tracker, your selected Missing, Collected and Mastered states and your tracker view preferences are stored in localStorage in your browser. This storage lets the tracker restore your collection and preferences when you return.
Guest progress stays in that browser profile on that device. If you choose to create and use a RiftWire Account, you can explicitly import supported Sprite progress and synchronise it through RiftWire’s account service. RiftWire does not connect to your Fortnite account or read automatic in-game progress.
You can remove tracker information with the tracker’s reset control or through your browser’s site-data settings. Clearing site data can remove your saved progress and preferences. Private-browsing and storage-restricted modes may retain information differently or remove it when the session ends.
Collection Cards are created locally in your browser from the tracker state and same-origin artwork. The generated card is not uploaded to RiftWire.
Accounts and information you provide
RiftWire Accounts are optional and private. You can create one with Google or an email magic link after confirming that you are aged 13 or over. The account service processes your email address, authentication identities, account timestamps, eligibility confirmation and any supported Sprite progress you deliberately import or synchronise. RiftWire does not collect your exact date of birth and does not provide public profiles, comments, reviews or user-generated listings. You do not need an account, name or email address to use RiftWire as a guest.
Player Stats results are cached for the searched Fortnite profile and may be shared between visitors. A signed-in eligible RiftWire Account can request an earlier refresh, but the stats snapshot is not stored as that account’s private data.
If you email RiftWire, your email provider and RiftWire’s mail service process the address, message and attachments you choose to send. Do not include passwords, Fortnite account credentials or unnecessary sensitive information.
Server request information
When your browser requests a RiftWire page or asset, the web server and infrastructure providers may process standard technical request information, such as IP address, request time, requested path, response status and browser user-agent information. This information may be used to deliver and secure the site and diagnose technical problems.
RiftWire will not state a fixed server-log retention period until the production logging configuration and relevant provider terms have been verified. That decision must be completed before public launch.
Analytics and advertising
On the public production site, RiftWire uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits, page views and page-load performance. The Cloudflare script sends this analytics information to Cloudflare. This helps us see which public pages are useful and identify performance problems. RiftWire has not added custom analytics events, advertising analytics or a second analytics provider.
Cloudflare’s beacon reports page and performance information including host and path, referring site, country, device type, browser, operating system, navigation type, page-load timings and Core Web Vitals. Cloudflare does not log URL query strings for Web Analytics. RiftWire does not send Sprite names or IDs, collection contents, tracker states, localStorage data, contact content, names, email addresses or free text to analytics.
The beacon does not store or read cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB and does not introduce a persistent user identifier. Cloudflare states that it discards the source IP address at the nearest Cloudflare data centre rather than storing it in its core databases or logs. Analytics remains separate from Sprite Tracker storage.
Cloudflare retains unsampled beacon data for seven days and then keeps sampled aggregate data for longer-term reporting. Web Analytics dashboard data is available for the previous six months. Cloudflare may process this performance information outside the country where it originated. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for information about its processing.
Privacy choices
Cloudflare Web Analytics is configured as cookieless analytics and does not use browser storage, so RiftWire does not show an analytics consent banner or store an analytics consent choice. You can block the Cloudflare beacon with browser privacy controls, content blocking or an ad blocker. Cloudflare notes that some such tools block the beacon.
Blocking analytics does not prevent use of RiftWire or the Sprite Tracker and does not remove tracker progress. Tracker storage supports the collection function you choose to use and remains separate from analytics.
Sharing and service providers
RiftWire does not sell tracker progress. Hosting, network, security, analytics and email providers may process the limited information needed to provide their services. Cloudflare is RiftWire’s only launch analytics provider.
